WE at OII have had some past discussions about the child pornography and pedophilia-related ideation and behaviours of some of the main characters involved in the psychological evaluation and medical diagnosis and treatment of intersex people.
I have said before that the way that I was treated or almost treated, as a young adult, by some top university hospital medical people would have been considered a crime if I had been under age.
In the early 1970s, everywhere that I went for medical help and the medical-legal means to be legally re-assigned to male, the psychiatrists and surgeons tried to talk me into having some kind of phalloplasty, which horrified both my wife and I as my small hypospadias-like phallus was quite normally functional.
All that these people seemed to care about was the SIZE of my ‘manhood.’
To us, their thinking seemed seriously disordered. Why would we want to trade my normal function and feeling for some porno-pin-up-sized insensate penis that had to be inflated or stiffened with a piece of bone?
I could understand the desperate need that some other person might have for such a surgical wonder, but I did not need or want one. So the medicos, especially the psychiatrists, almost seemed to challenge my masculinity because I did not want the big ‘virile member’ that they were trying to peddle to me.
Really feeling threatened by encountering this ‘submit to our surgery demand’ mentality in several university and so on ‘gender groups’, I kept looking for anyone else who would just help me to get my female organs removed and a legal sex reassignment. Back then, I could not get a reassignment as long as I had my female organs.
After being insulted, molested and told to strip and display my shrinking breasts and growing phallus to numerous doctors, nurses, technicians and any other curious people that were around, my wife and I finally ended-up at one major West Coast University gender group.
There the head of the psychiatric department, who was in charge of my sex reassignment surgery H.B. evaluation – thus having a god-like power over my life – tried to pressure my common-law wife and I into letting him and his colleagues watch and videotape us having intercourse! We were so shocked and offended that we left his office and never went back. After that, it was a couple of years until I found another doctor and tried again to get medical care and have my female organs removed.
Altogether, after so many offensive experiences, I concluded that the entire field of psychiatrists, psychologists and their medical conspirators involved in the diagnosis and treatment of intersex and transsexual people was full of sick people with prurient interests.

Later, when I studied the relationship between the psychiatrist and Johns Hopkins psychiatric department head Dr Paul McHugh and the horrendous problem of pedophilia in the US Catholic Church, this was all confirmed to me again. McHugh, a transphobic religious-far-right-funded political activist, apparently set up the prototype USA pedophilia ‘treatment’ programs, and secrecy – medical ‘privacy’ – protocols that hid the identity of clerical child molesters from both the police and others, including their religious superiors, enabling child-molesting priests and others to be treated as psychiatric patients instead of criminal child abusers.
It was McHugh’s followers whose psychiatric profession protected these child abusers from their superiors and law enforcement and who asserted that their psychiatric ‘therapy’ could manage, control or cure these repeat offenders, declaring them fit to be reassigned to other places of work where they again had access to children and re-offended.
In the writings of McHugh et al there is a profound confusion about human sex, sexuality, gendered experience and gender identity. And since it is his people who are the anti-gay, anti-trans, anti-intersex ‘sex disorders’ darlings of the far right Christians and other religious fundamentalists in the USA and elsewhere, it is their sexist fear-mongering poison that is being spread world-wide regarding intersex people, transsexuals and homosexuals.
After the disastrous outcome of their talk-therapy treatment experiment for pedophiles, the followers of the McHugh doctrine then performed one of the greatest responsibility-dodges in history by confounding gender-nonconformity, transsexualism and homosexuality with pedophilia and then scapegoating all these “disordered” and/or same-sex attracted people for the sins of the pedophiles.
As the direct result of this, religious communities world-wide have been demonizing and purging too-masculine women, too-feminine men and any suspected gender-non-conforming intersex, transsexual or same-sex attracted people from their midst. Meanwhile, the psychiatric profession becomes more powerful and more protective of its own dark secrets, of its own abusers and pornographers and the prurient interests of some of its own foundational and modern leaders.
I would like to know just how many cases there are of other mental health professionals who have actually sexually violated their patients or others, or who have been complicit in the enabling of others who have raped, molested or photographed others for pornographic reasons.
