DES – Diethylstilbestrol
{Further content about DES and intersex is coming to this page soon.}
We note that the fact that some so-called DES sons have been described as having “gender” problems apparently resulting from exposure in utero to Diethylstilbestrol. From the descriptions, some of those problems may be to do with gender – behaviours normally associated with a given sex – but it would also appear that some DES sons are experiencing intersex – biological variations to do with sex. Researchers appear to be too squeamish to properly investigate this at the moment.
DES is also known as:
- Diethylstilboestrol
- Diethylstilbestrol
- Di-Ethyl Stilbestrol®
- Distilbène®
- Stilboestrol®
