The post is titled CSI Miami Continues to Portray Intersex People as Psychopathic Killers, and it is filed under the classification of ‘transgender’ with ‘intersex’ as one of the tags.

We are grateful for GLAAD’s interest in and support for intersex people, in the face of the extremely blatant demonizing of intersex that goes on in the media and most especially in TV shows like CSI:Miami, and we in turn wholeheartedly support GLAAD in their excellent efforts. The more people on our side who understand the facts instead of the media’s fantasies about intersex, the better.
GLAAD incorrectly classifies intersex as transgender. GLAAD, please reconsider.
However, we are concerned about GLAAD itself accidentally (we assume) misrepresenting one salient fact about intersex. Intersex is not also, somehow, ‘transgender.’ That is, intersex is not the same as transgender nor is it a subset of transgender.
And yet, GLAAD is misrepresenting intersex as somehow being the same as or a subset of transgender by virtue of it being categorized under transgender.
The evidence is in this page – the transgender category page – at the GLAAD blog as well as in the second screenshot above, as well as this page – Transgender Glossary of Terms – where intersex is included with definitions of transgender terminology under the subheading “Transgender-specific Terminology.”
GLAAD, please categorize intersex as intersex from now onwards. And please continue reporting on the media’s misportrayals of intersex.
We are grateful for you doing so, but we simply ask that you help promote the facts – even in all their apparent complexity – about intersex.
