We interviewed Canadian documentary filmmaker Gwen Haworth when she recently visited Australia.
She talked about telling one’s own stories when one is a member of a minority whose stories are far too often told by others and not ourselves in our own words and images.

We encourage all intersex people to consider speaking about our own lives in our own ways, breaking the media monopoly over what can be said and who can say it.
The benefits of doing that are manifold, not least being that the public, and lawmakers, will begin to understand that we are real human beings made of flesh and blood, not the fabulous monsters the media portray us as, who need and deserve equality and human rights just as much as they.
