WA has never been one of the more enlightened or humanitarian states of Australia, and its current Liberal government is situated even further to the right than its Labor predecessor, which in turn was hardly known for its liberal attitudes towards all oppressed minorities.
It is foolhardy indeed for the WA government to pursue this course in the face of the Christiane Voelling outcome, but Western Australian attorneys-general have rarely been troubled by facts, conscience or humanitarianism.
Our sympathies go to the two men who won the State Administrative Tribunal decision for having to fight yet another court case.

WA was one of the first states to introduce full de facto equality for ss attracted people. One of the first states to give access to reproductive technologies to lesbians and one of the first states to allow both mothers to appear on a child’s birth certificate. There are some states of Australia which still don’t have these conditions!
So, actually, in these areas, WA has been one of the most enlightened states of Australia!

I hope you can keep the momentum going and defeat this disgraceful appeal by the A.G, Who knows you might also break the mould an be the first state to grant full human rights protection to Intersex… now that would really make a difference .
